Kirstie Allsopp

Kirstie Allsopp unveils the handmade Swarovski crystallised dress that she will be wearing at The Handmade Fair this September.

Pictured at her home in London, the Queen of Handmade was photographed having her final fitting of the dress which has been decorated by stylist and artist Rosy Nicholas with Swarovski crystals.

The dress took 16 hours to decorate with the blue crystals, each sewn on by hand to create a shimmering effect across the bodice. Kirstie complimented the dress with sapphire and diamond earrings.

Kirstie Allsopp comments; ‘I’m very lucky to be wearing such a beautiful handmade dress at the fair this year which I let Rosy decorate with Swarovski crystals as she pleased. The blue crystals across the bodice create a stunning effect which I can’t wait to show off to guests at the fair in September. It’s a work of art!’

Tropicana

Trend of the Month

Fruity, flowery and fantastical, tropical prints are everywhere. Taking their cue from the catwalk, where Marc Jacobs, Prada and Emanuel Ungaro all served up sizzling, jungle-fever prints, the look is creeping into home interiors, too. So, if you haven’t yet bought into the delights of palm trees and pineapples, flowers and flamingos, it’s time to think about how to use their vibrancy to update your wardrobe and décor.

If you’re into subtlety, there are more muted alternatives to eye-popping bird of paradise colors—think understated colonial chic, and change it up with cushions in lime, indigo, flamingo pink, mango, coral, sunny yellow and tangerine. But if you’re a natural extrovert, be bold, channel your inner samba-singing Carmen Miranda, and just go for it! Kick off with steal-the-limelight sandals and a tribal necklace. Add a touch of pizzazz to your bathroom with tropical towels, and make a beautiful lantern that throws the shapes of the jungle around your walls. Then sit back with a piña colada and enjoy it!
