The Beading Frenzy, Inc.

The Beading Frenzy first opened its doors in 1996 in San Mateo, a city of approximately 100k people located on the Peninsula in the heart of Silicon Valley; halfway between San Francisco and San Jose and a short 10 minute ride south of San Francisco International Airport. In its 16th year of business, the store is currently located in a charming house that was built after the1906 earthquake when people wanted to relocate outside of the city.

Susan Kazarian, owner of The Beading Frenzy, attributes the success of the store to her friendly, inspired and knowledgeable staff. Keeping current in the industry with the latest in color trends and designs both in accessories and in the fashion market is also a very important aspect of the businesses success. The Beading Frenzy features SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS in its own room, offering a comprehensive array of Beads, Crystal Pearls, Fancy Stones, Flat Backs, Round Stones, Sew-on Stones, Buttons, Pendants, Cupchains and Findings and an assortment of vintage crystals.

Customers perusing the store will find that the store also specializes in handmade Lamp worked focal beads, vintage Czech and German glass beads and buttons, Japanese seed beads (all sizes, shapes, and colors of seed beads), freshwater pearls, semiprecious stones and an assortment of findings, chain, wire and stringing materials. We also offer a fine selection of books devoted to contemporary beadwork and to the cultural and spiritual significance of beads throughout history. Our mission (in addition to paying the bills) is twofold: to promote the many fine artists that comprise the beading community and to support your development as an artist and as a designer.

To this end we offer a full schedule of classes taught by some of the premiere bead artists in the country. In these classes, you won't be learning to make jewelry - or vessels, or purses, or spirit dolls -that you can find at the local department store. You will be creating highly original works of art. Although the projects are sophisticated, the classes are small with plenty of individual attention. Therefore most classes are appropriate for beaders of all skill levels. In addition to classes, the store hosts many trunk shows by our local bead vendors as well as free demonstrations highlighting what’s new and innovative in the industry. The store also produces and co-produces two, three day workshops annually featuring nationally recognized instructors; Hooked on Wire and Beading by the Bay, respectively.
