In ancient times, language barriers were not a problem at all, as the meaning of symbols were the same amongst all nations. One such symbol that has stood the test of time is the fertility doll, which has been revered throughout history. Fertility dolls are common to most parts of Africa. These carved wooded figures symbolize youth and fertility and are believed to induce pregnancy and protect the mother during childbirth, as well as ensure successful delivery.
