Here, the South African fl ag has been incorporated into the design. The colours are thus symbolic: red is for bloodshed; blue is for clear, open skies as well as the two oceans that South Africa lies between; green is for the land; black is for the country’s black citizens; white is for the country’s european citizens; yellow represents its natural resources (especially its gold). The “Y”-shape symbolises unity.
